Square sales land on your board automatically

If you sell through Square — at markets, in person with the reader, or on your Square online store — Broidry can bring those sales in for you. Connect once, and every paid Square sale shows up on your board as a paid order, with the items, the buyer's name, and the amount already filled in.

There is nothing to forward and nothing to remember. Broidry checks Square regularly on its own, and you can press a button to check right away.

Set it up

1. 1In Broidry, open the Import page — use the import link on your Today page or go straight to your dashboard's address with /import on the end.
2. 2Press "Connect Square." You land on Square's own sign-in page, where you sign in to your Square account and allow the connection. Broidry never sees your Square password — Square just hands back permission to read your orders.
3. 3That's it. You come right back to Broidry, and every Square sale you take from now on starts appearing on your board.

Good to know

Orders arrive marked paid, because the buyer already paid on Square. The amount is recorded as a Square payment, so your money numbers stay truthful.

Your buyers do not get extra emails. Square already sent them a receipt when they paid, so Broidry stays quiet — no second receipt, no duplicate order updates. But unlike Etsy, Square shares the buyer's email address with you, so if you want to message a buyer about their order, you can do it right from the order's conversation.

When Square marks an order shipped or picked up, the matching order here closes itself, with the tracking number copied on. And if an order is cancelled on Square, Broidry tells you instead of changing anything on its own.

Sales you made on Square before you connected stay off your board. Broidry has no way to tell which of those you already finished, and a finished sale sitting on your board is work you have to clear by hand. They are not hidden from you: the Square card on the Import page lists them, with the buyer, the item, the amount and the day of the sale. Press "Add to my board" on any one of them and it becomes a paid order here. Nobody is emailed either way.

To bring your full past history in as customers and records rather than as work, use the Square file upload on the same Import page.

If Square ever turns down one of Broidry's checks, the Square card on the Import page shows a box that says Square turned down the last check, with a "Reconnect Square" button. Press it, allow Broidry on Square's page, and the sales you made while it was down come onto your board with the next check. Leave "Disconnect" alone for this: disconnecting starts the connection over, and the sales from while it was down would then count as sales from before you connected and stay off the board. Broidry also emails you when a check fails, once, and again two weeks later if it is still failing.

Take card payments through your Square account

If you run your business on Square, your buyers can pay by card on your Broidry pages through your own Square account, so every card sale, whether it started on Square or on Broidry, ends up in the same Square balance and pays out on the same schedule. Square takes its usual online card rate, and Broidry's fee comes out after it, exactly as it would on a Stripe payment.

Nothing to set up beyond the connection. Once your Square account is connected with the card-payments permission, your Money page shows a card called Card payments through Square are on, and the "Pay by card" button on your customers' order pages opens Square's own secure payment page. Orders mark themselves paid and receipts send on their own. Refunds you send from the order go back to the card through Square too.

If you connected Square before card payments existed, the Import page shows a box that says Reconnect to take card payments. Press it, allow the extra permission on Square's page, and you come straight back. Your Square sales keep coming in either way; only the card button waits on the reconnect.

Card payments through Square are available to shops that charge in US dollars. If you also have Stripe connected, the Money page lets you choose which one takes the card. Group orders and drops always use Stripe.
